These pieces are all constructed from a mixture of fabric and papers, hand-dyed, stitched and embroidered. Many of them incorporate lettering and hand written texts, and some are based on maps – sometimes segments of historic maps and sometimes hand drawn plans. All of these were created just before and at the same time as the jewellery collections, and my preoccupation with the mysterious contradictory quality of unreadable text, and the interplay between fragility and strength during the process of deterioration and decay are both themes that run through all the work.
